Buyer – Purchasing Dept
Based: Darwen, Lancashire
Salary: up to £42,000 DOE plus profit share
Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in manufacturing or engineering?
WEC Group is looking for an experienced Buyer to join our growing procurement team in Darwen. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a successful and well-established engineering and manufacturing business.
The Role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, sourcing materials and components, and ensuring production requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the procurement of materials, components, and services
- Negotiating pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements
- Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Monitoring supplier performance, quality, and delivery schedules
- Working closely with production, planning, and engineering teams
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Ensuring stock levels and material availability support production demands
- Raising and managing purchase orders using internal systems
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a Buyer / Senior Buyer / Purchasing role
- Manufacturing or engineering industry background preferred
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems advantageous
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment
