Job Title: Hospital Chef
Trust: Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust
Location: Royal Berkshire Hospital, London Road, Reading RG1 5AN
Shift Pattern: Mon-Fri 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm
Pay Rate: £ 14.05 an hour + Escalated rates over the weekend.

With seven sites, the Trust employs approximately 6,500 staff and serves a population of around 1,000,000 people.
Job Duties
- Preparing and cooking patient/ restaurant meals in our modern well-equipped kitchen.
- Provide information on food service, matters including recipes and wastage information.
- Planning meals and menus
- Lifting and storing of heavy provisions.
- Keep up to date with departmental COSHH manual and PPE requirement for each food preparation and cleaning task
- Storing food correctly
- Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of cleanliness within the department, including personal hygiene.
What you’ll need:
- Relevant Chef/Cooking experience.
- Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
- Good communicator who can follow instructions
- Allergen Awareness
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
- Food Safety Level 2
